WEST AIR AVIATION is located in the Las Vegas valley at the North Las Vegas (VGT) airport, among the top 50 busiest airport in the United States and the 2nd busiest airport in Nevada. North Las Vegas airport is one of four airports owned and operated by Clark County - Department of Aviation.
The airport operates parallel runways 12L/R - 30R/L and one crossing runway 7/25. Construction of the newest designed FAA tower was completed May 2002 providing the most current technology for air traffic control. The ILS approach became operational on 22 December 2005 along with the existing GPS approach. All of these items brings the best flight training environment to the West Air student pilot.

FLIGHT TRAINING ENVIRONMENT is excellent for the student pilot or pilots adding ratings to their ticket (FAA Pilot License). The airport has a FAA control tower and radar. Las Vegas' McCarran International Airport, one of the 10 busiest airports in the Nation, is located within ten miles. Flight training in the Class B area of McCarran enables the student pilot to fly into the busiest airport with full confidence. Radio communications with ground control improves the pilots confidence in flying busy airspace, such as Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, and Denver.

OUR LARGE FLEET  of Cessna 172 aircraft provides the student with the availability of aircraft for their flight training, and aircraft rental. Many are have been painted to a standard fleet color, with new interiors, Garmin 430 GPS', lighted panels and more. Our 200 horse power engine, Piper Arrows provide training for Commercial Ratings.

Our new 172SP aircraft have full IFR avionics with our newest addition 172SP equipped with the state of the art - GARMIN G1000 GLASS PANEL.

FLIGHT SIMULATOR -  a Frasca 142 Flight Simulator (FAA approved Flight Training Device) single and multi-engine operations, with visual display and full size cockpit. Instrument training in the Frasca 142 and the assist the student pilot to maximize training while lowering costs involved in using an aircraft. The flight simulator (FTD) is also excellent for the instrument pilots maintaining instrument required proficiency and currency..

FINANCING FOR YOUR FLIGHT TRAINING is available. Our student affairs office is able to assist with loans for your training. The loans can be used for a single rating, such as Private Pilot, or for the entire program for all ratings. CESSNA PILOT SCHOOL PROGRAM The Cessna Pilot CD flight training program provides a visual training program using your computer or the schools computer center. Use of the CPC training program for Private, Instrument or Commercial Ratings provide the best presentation of the training material possible. As a student you are able to train at home, the office or on the road as long as here is a computer available. USAF INITIAL FLIGHT SCREENING (IFS) TRAINING has ceased being taught at local flight training schools. A federal contractor has begun training in Colorado. Since we have trained pilots for the USAF since the beginning of the program, we will leave this link open so our graduates as well as visitors can look back at their fellow students who graduated from West Air.

COMPUTER ASSISTED TESTING SERVICE As an authorized CATS Testing center, your written tests for each rating may be taken at the school location. CLARK COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE offers a two year college degree in aviation and complete your flight requirements at West Air. The credit hours are transferable to UVSC for completing your Bachelors Degree either with distant learning (over the web) or attending the campus in Utah. UVSC offers several levels of study. You may apply for a two year Associate Degree in Aviation, or a four year Bachelors of Science Degree in Aviation. A college degree is required by the Regional / Connector Airlines and the Major Airlines. Your enrollment with UVSC and flying at West Air allows you to complete your goal of flying and receiving your degree without leaving Las Vegas.
INTRODUCTORY FLIGHT certificates from BE A PILOT are honored at West Air Aviation. If you want to take an Intro Flight, you may call BE A PILOT or just call us directly to schedule your flight. The cost is only $99.00. You will get to sit in the pilot seat and take the controls, under the direction of an Instructor.
